I f you have a 3.5 or above cumulative GPA at Green River Community College, congratulations, you are able to join an amazing academic background club, Phi Theta Kappa(PTK), an excellent opportunity for exclusive scholarships and leadership involvement.

Recently, more than 300 Green River students have become a member of PTK. This club is looking for some new members right now, so students are welcome to apply for membership as long as satisfying its minimum requirements.

The requirements of joining the PTK are a 3.5 or above cumulative GPA and a $60 lifetime membership fee. A qualified member will receive a certificate, a membership card, and a pin.

If the GPA of any member drops below 3.5 after he or she joins the club, the member will have one quarter probation to raise the GPA to at least 3.5. Otherwise, the membership will be automatically disqualified after the probation.

The vice-president of PTK (Alpha Chi Beta Chapter), Jessica Hendrawidjaja, says, "In order to promote our club, we have club orientation every quarter. During the orientation, we will introduce PTK to students through video and members' experiences sharing."

Also, she mentions that joining this academic background club is very beneficial and Hendrawidjaja strongly encourages students to apply for it.
She says, "PTK provides many opportunities to domestic and international students, not only for scholarships, but also leadership involvement." She adds, "For example, a Northwest Regional Conference for selected PTK members coming up in March. This is a good way to build resumes and to learn."

Maintaining a minimum GPA for PTK members is a necessity. Undoubtedly, this is a great incentive for good students to maintain their academic standing. Hendrawidjaja points out, "We will help students in any way and possibility to maintain a good GPA at school."

For information about joining PTK, please feel free to contact Student Programs in the Lindbloom Student Center.
