Freshman third base, Cassy Duschel (Fife HS) hit a two out, with two on, bottom of the seventh homerun on Wednesday to give the Green River fastpitch team a 7-4 victory over South Puget Sound CC. The dramatic finish bolstered the spirits of the squad in what started to be a difficult experience in the first game. SPSCC pitcher Rachel Todd was in the zone striking out 15 Gators en route to a 8-1 final in game one. But it was the same pitcher that Duschel left her stamp on when the ball cleared the left field fence. Sophomore Alexa Derrick continues to pitch solidly for the Gators and only gave up four hits in the second contest to the Clippers.
Friday the two teams will face off again down in Olympia with the first pitch slated for 3:00 pm.
