On Tuesday, May 11 Green River Community College (GRCC) set up booths in the Olympus room allowing students to learn about where they stand with alcohol.

Counselors Liz McKinney and Devon Klein hosted this event which began at 10 am and ended at two pm. The two of them had laptops set up for any one interest to take an online alcohol assessment.

The assessment is completely anonymous, and it only takes about five minutes to complete. Depending on how you answer, it depicts whether you drink responsibly or abusively. It also assesses if you should seek counseling.

Even though the event is now over, you can still take the alcohol screening test online. To take it, begin at the green river homepage and click on counseling and health services; then click anonymous online assessment and listed under that is alcohol.

The event also provided research-based brochures in case you wanted to learn more about alcoholism. Right next door to the Olympus room, an educational video was held in the Baker room.

The video explained what can happen when you abuse the use of alcohol and how alcoholism hurts the people who care about you the most. The video described a family who had lost their son due to an incident involving alcohol.

If interested in learing more about alcohol and how to use it responsibly or if you have any other questions visit McKinney and Klein on the second floor of the Lindbloom Student Center.
