Iron Man 2 is one of the best written and directed movies based on a comic book in many years, and it deserves five stars two thumbs up. Everything about this movie was terrific, from its story to its fight scenes.
The sequel had a great story that answered many questions fans had about the film, for example; how can someone have radioactive metal in their body and survive. The writers had clever ways of answering many of those types of questions. The story also did a great job at keeping the movie as realistic as possible by depicting how the government would act about weapons of mass destruction.
The fight scenes in the film were exciting and well choreographed with many suspenseful moments. The fight between Iron Man, War Machine and the evil robots was one of the most exciting fight scenes I have ever seen.
The movie had a wonderful cast and crew which made the movie one of the best sequels of all time. The movie was directed by John Favreau, who also did the first Iron Man and Elf. The Screenplay was written by Justin Theroux, who did the screenplay for Tropic Thunder. Both Favreau and Theroux did a terrific job at keeping the story comedic and action packed.
The story starts with Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Junior, being hassled by the government to give up the Iron Man suit so the government can use it for themselves, but Stark does not trust the government to keep the technology safe.
Meanwhile, Ivan Vanko, played by Mickey Rourke, is plotting to kill Stark because of a confrontation between Stark's and Vanko's fathers. Don Cheadle plays Lt Col. James Rhodes, who eventually turns into the hero War Machine and he is trying to convince Stark to hand over the technology to the government for the greater good.
The other villain Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell, the antagonist to Tony Stark is also trying to figure out Stark's technology called, the arc reactor and he will do anything to obtain the technology.
Tony is also has to deal with more trouble because he is dying from the nuclear device in his chest that is keeping him alive and eventually gets help from Nick Fury, played by Samuel Jackson, and the Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, agents from an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D.
Tony Stark has to figure out how to save his life and most of all think of a way to stop his technology from being in the wrong hands and destroying the world.
With multiple antagonists and the addition of new comic book heroes this movie would be a great way to spend your weekend. This movie is not just for comic book enthusiasts it is for everyone who loves fast paced actions films and a good sense of humor. With the help of many A-list actors and actresses in the film this movie will set the bar for future movies based on comic books for a long time.
