The new Lea Hill Food Market that's located right up the street from Green River Community College (GRCC) is trying to sell foods that the students here can enjoy, and they've asked The Current for help. Luckily, we were able to discover that all over campus, students' consensus is that they want variety.
A lot of students would really like to able to buy foods that are both healthy and nutritious. Students Alex Goldberry and Kristina Litleskare both said they would like to see more "all natural food products" available for them in the Lea Hill Food Market.
Kristina went into more detail saying she likes to eat "organic foods" which range from apples and oranges to organic fish. Litleskare loves to eat fish products and would like to see more options that are non-processed or frozen without being deep fried food.
Along with organic and all natural foods, Litleskare would also love to see "whole wheat fresh bread" made at their bakery.
Student Matthew Cline who lives at GRCC's Campus Corner Apartments said he would really like to see eggnog on their shelves. Cline also said he would like to "see a seafood center that sells fresh salad shrimp" so he can mix it with cocktail sauce and put it over cream cheese for a cracker dip.
While everyone has their own favorite recipes and treats, the international students in CCA all seemed to agree that having options that were similar to the foods back home would be the best ever, as few stores in the area carry any. For example, Safeway might have eggnog and Dave's Barbecue Sauce, but they've never carried traditional Mediterranean foods, and their seafood options are designed for national students, not international.
Cline has gone into the Food Market before looking for Dave's Barbeque Sauce and found that they do not sell it. This is his favorite brand of barbeque sauce and would like to be able to get it at the Market.
Since Cline is a hunter he likes his deer and elk meat and wishes that a grocery store would have this meat available during huntings off-season.
A Mediterranean student by the name of Nicholas Venunu has a whole bunch of Mediterranean foods that he wishes the market place would sell. He would like to see more varieties of humus, and pita bread of course.
"Falafal is mad deliscous," Venunu said when asked what dishes he would like to be able to purchase products for. This dish is made out of chick peas and all different kinds of seasonings. Venunu said that this dish can both be pre-made and the ingredients can be sold separately.
Venunu also said, "There's a special meat they use in Israel called Shwarma," that he would like to see in a grocery store. "It's basically turkey and lamb and beef all combined," he said.
As for beverages, Venunu would really like to see a drink called Sidral Mun Det which is "like a carbonated applejuice," according to Venunu.

Students looking to give more option ideas to the Lea Hill Food Market are welcome to suggest items to the store employees at any time, after all, if no one is willing to ask for something from the store, they'll never know to order it in the first place.
