Let’s Write About Love

International Student Association (ISA) has established a writing contest for Green River students. Both domestic and international students are welcome to join this event and have an opportunity to win gift cards from the Paper Tree Bookstore!

"Love" is the theme of this writing contest. Defining and expressing love in your own words and in any style you want. It can be an essay, short story, poem, or even a love letter. The required format is:

  1. Less than 400 words
  2. Double spaced
  3. Times New Roman
  4. Put your name, student ID, and email on top left.

The Green River International Student Ambassador, Jessica Hendrawidjaja, says the purpose of having this writing contest is that, "February is the month of love. This is a great opportunity for students to express their feelings and perspectives about love in any writing styles." She believes every single person has a different perspective about love and is looking forward to read students' works.

The deadline of the ISA writing contest is March 1, 2010. Winners will be contacted by email after one week. Winners will not only be featured in the ISA blog and win gift cards from the Paper Tree Bookstore, they will also receive award certificates.

Hendrawidjaja strongly encourages students to join this meaningful event, she mentions, "Love, is a universal, general, and easy to write with. All students need to do is share their opinions about love." She also emphasizes, "All the attendant will be award certificates, which is a good way to build your resume."

Hendrawidjaja wants to give students a tip to the writing contest. She says, "Having a special idea is very important to the contest because we will not only judge on grammar and structure, but most importantly idea." She says, "Advisors, supervisors, and people from CLEO will be the judges of this writing contest."

Please submit your work to the Student Life Office by March 1, 2010 or by email to: jhendrawidjaja@greenriver.edu
