Needing a win on Saturday in order to keep pace with the division leaders in the NWAACC west, the Lady Gators knew they had to take advantage of a scuffling South Puget Sound Lady Clippers squad. After taking a slim three point lead into halftime it looked as if the lady Gators were on the right track and headed towards a victory.
However, things quickly turned for the worse in the second half and the Gators were left with a 64-53 defeat. The Lady Clippers managed to wake up from a first half funk as they shot 94 percent in the second half from the free throw line and over 50 percent for the entire game from three point territory.
On the flip side, the Lady Gators could never find their touch from the floor as they only shot 35 percent and only attempted nine free throws while only converting on six of them. Freshman guard Aisha Jones led the Lady Gators in scoring, assists, and steals with 17 points, five assists, and five steals. She was also tied for second on the team with Rayssa Lira and Savannah Williams in rebounds with five.
Freshman Post player, Carly Theodoran, led the Lady Gators with six rebounds. Jones received help from fellow freshman guard Jennifer Siregar who was the only other Lady Gator to score in double figures as she chipped in 13 points, including 3 three point field goals.
South Puget Sound received scoring help from across the board as six of their players scored at least nine points with freshman guard Alexa Justus leading the way with 13 points while shooting 75 percent from three point territory. Justus got help from sophomore guard Larissa Rohr who scored 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals as they both helped the Lady Clippers dominate the glass as they out-rebounded Green River 56-40.
After starting conference play with a win over Grays Harbor, the Lady Gators have now dropped four consecutive games and now only have a one game lead over Grays Harbor for second to last place in the west standings.
