New wireless

Over winter break, IT has updated the wireless network and log-in page. There are now three different wireless networks; one for guests, one for students, and one for teachers.

Anyone can connect to the guest network, and whilst it does not actually connect you to the internet, you have access to features such as the campus map, the Green River main website page, and the library. The student and the employee networks are not public (students and employees will need their login names), but do have full online access.
The updating took several months, according to IT employee Wyatt Schill, as it was “a fairly complicated job”. Its main purposes were creating a network for employees only, and to make the site better looking.
Not everyone is happy with the changes however; some students have been experiencing problems connecting to the network. Sean Kramer, who is in his second year here at Green River, was one of them. “It took me an entire week to figure out that it wasn’t compatible with my favorite web browser [Google Chrome] that was pretty frustrating.”

When such problems occur; students, staff and faculty can try contacting IT at (253)-833-9111, extension 2222.
