Students at Green River Community College (GRCC) want a place to eat that is convenient and doesn’t cost them an arm and a leg.
Student, Kendra Strunks, said “the food from the Gator Grill is ok, but I prefer going to places like Wendy’s, Subway or even Teriyaki” Many students agree with Strunks, saying that Subway is one of their favorite places to eat. Another student, Jenny Shemereko, said “I like Subway because it is close to school and it’s healthy”.
Subway is known for having sandwiches that you can make the want them. The closest one is located at 12722 SE 312th street, right down the street from the campus. Right next door to Subway there is a restaurant called WOK Teriyaki, which Strunks says she also really likes.
Strunks also stated “most of the time I don’t eat lunch, but when I do I usually get Wendy’s because it’s cheap”. There are a couple of Wendy’s in Auburn, one which is on 15th street, near the auburn air port.
There are also some restaurants that are a little more expensive but have really excellent food. Matt Stevenson is just starting his first quarter at Green River and has yet to try anything from the Gator Grill.
“Normally I bring my own lunch to school so that my money goes towards gas, but I do recommend the Ram over by Kent Station”. The Ram is a family friendly and family owned restaurant. It has a wide variety of foods that range from hamburgers and Buffalo wings to nachos and calamari.
Danielle Roller said she just recently started eating at Shake-N-Go. Roller loves eating there because of the great atmosphere and food.
“Oh my god, Shake-N-Go is freaking amazing! You can get burgers or wraps there which are really good”.
Her favorite thing to get is the California wrap with has chicken, lettuce, bacon, avocado and tomato. Shake-N-Go is located on A street in Auburn across from Albertsons and 7-eleven.
Many students, like Skylar Powell, enjoy eating the food from Gator Grill because it’s good and familiar. Powell said “I take the shuttle to school so eating anywhere other than the cafeteria is not really an option. That and I like the pizza”.
Roller likes food from the Gator Grill as well. “I have only been to the Gator Grill a few times but when I do go I usually get something healthy like the wraps or a salad”. The Gator grill has a large variety of food to choose from, along with some entertainment in the main dining area.
With students busy schedules these days, eating somewhere else might now always be an option; but we are lucky to have a cafeteria right here on campus, even if it is a little expensive.
